Mission & Impact

Schoanna Daswani is committed to advancing literacy as a lifelong cultural practice that nurtures empathy, critical thinking, and social cohesion.

Through writing, curated literary recommendations, and the development of Vian’s Book Corner, she seeks to create accessible reading spaces and programmes that encourage children and families to engage meaningfully with books.

Her work centres on three core pillars: Access, by expanding opportunities for children and families to encounter books in welcoming, community-based environments; Engagement, by encouraging reflective reading habits that cultivate imagination, dialogue, and emotional intelligence; and Community, by building collaborative partnerships with schools, libraries, and local organisations to promote literacy as a shared civic value.

Operating from Manchester, a city shaped by resilience, reinvention, and cultural diversity, her initiatives aim to contribute to the region’s literary ecosystem while supporting broader educational equity.

Through sustained programming, book donation initiatives, and public-facing literary content, she seeks to foster a culture in which reading is embraced not as an obligation, but as a formative and transformative lifelong practice.
